How much will I receive in Child Tax Credit?

With the Child Tax Credit, qualifying parents may receive up to $3,000 per child ages 6-17, and $3,600 for each child under the age of 6 distributed through monthly payments. There are income thresholds to be eligible to receive credit. Refer to this article for more information.

What is the maximum amount of relief I can get?

You could be eligible for thousands in economic impact relief through the American Rescue Plan. Relief is given based on your most recent tax return, so filing your 2020 taxes allows you to claim any aid that you qualify for that has not been awarded.

Can I get my stimulus checks once I file my taxes?

If you're eligible for stimulus payment but haven't received it yet due to unfiled taxes, this program allows you to claim those stimulus checks once your taxes are filed. Three rounds of stimulus checks went out based on each person's 2019 or 2020 tax return (whichever was most recently filed). Refer to this article for more information.

Will I be penalized for filing my taxes late?

The penalty for late filers includes a percentage of the tax that you owe plus interest, which accrues based on how late you file. However, there is no penalty for filing late if you're due for a refund. Failing to pay 60 days after the deadline could increase the penalty you owe. The IRS extended this year's tax deadline to May 17th, meaning that there's still time left to avoid paying higher penalty fees. Refer to this article for more information.
